Buy your card pack from any of the NationHela Agents countrywide, including NationMedia Group distributors, DTB branches and all leading supermarkets.
Your card pack will contain your card, your PIN, and information on how to use your card.
Activate
To use your card, you must activate it by dialling *348# from your mobile phone. You will then be prompted to send an SMS with your card pack ID and your card number. The number of the mobile phone that you use to activate the card will be set as the default account number, so when activating the card only use the mobile phone that you want associated with your NationHela account
Once you activate your card, you will be able to receive money once or load cash locallyonce.
Register
To enjoy the full benefits of the NationHela account and continue receiving money or topping up your account, you will be required to carry out a one-time card registration. To register, visit a NationHela registration outlet to fill in the card registration form and provide a copy of your Identification document.Once registered you will have full use of your card within 72 hours (3 days).
Who can get NationHela?
Anyone! You don’t need to have an account with any bank to get NationHela.
This is the simplest and most convenient option that allows you to send money directly into a NationHela account from your Debit card or Credit Card account.
Select your country of residence, currency and input the amount you would like to send. Submit your details once this is done.
In the next step, you will be asked to confirm the amount you would like to send and be informed of the transaction fee. The amount that will be received by the beneficiary in Kenya shillings will also be confirmed. In this step, you will also need to confirm the recipients mobile number as well as their full names. When verified click on the “Send now” button.
You will then be asked to input your personal information, and select your preferred mode of transfer (Debit Card or Credit Card) and submit.
Upon the successful completion of your transfer you will receive a payment confirmation .
Sending Money over the counter
You can send money over-the-counter at any Xpress Money or Moneygram money transfer outlet. The recipient in Kenya can then simply choose to receive the money directly into their NationHela account by using the NationHela menu on their mobile phone.
How it Works
The NationHela recipient will dial *348# and request funds to be transferred to their NationHela account.
The recipient will then provide the Reference Number (for Xpress Money, provide your Xpin and for a Moneygram transfer, provide a reference number).
The name of the recipient must match the name they’ve used to register their NationHela card.
Upon confirmation, funds will be deposited into the recipient’s NationHela account and an SMS confirmation will be sent.
Using your NationHela card at Visa Merchant Outlets:
Do your shopping and present your card at the cashier’s till. The cashier will then swipe the card and present you with a sales slip to sign to complete the transaction. For security reasons, you may be asked to input your ATM pin at a point of sale to validate your transaction.

Using your NationHela to pay for Utility bills (water and electricity):
You can pay for your electricity and water bills (Nairobi Water Company) through your mobile phone, using your NationHela account.
How it Works
Dial *348#, select Bill payment and the company you would like to pay.
Provide your customer account number with the company you are paying and the amount to be sent.
You will receive an SMS confirmation with a payment reference number confirming that your funds have been sent.
You can pay for goods and services through the internet. To use you card online you will need to activate it for online use on the customer care portal by clicking on the “Access my account” tab.
How it Works
Log onto the website you want to shop from.
Provide card details on the website.
Print or keep details of your transactions and website visited.
*For security reasons, always ensure the website in which you carry out your transaction is secure.
You can transfer money to another NationHela account within Kenya using your mobile phone or the internet.
(i) Mobile Phone Transfer
With NationHela, you can transfer money to another NationHela cardholder through your phone.
How it Works
Dial *348# to access the mobile banking menu.
Select the SEND MONEY option and enter the recipient’s NationHela mobile number and the amount to be transferred.
Both cardholders will receive SMS confirmations that funds have been sent and received.
(ii) Online Transfer
You can transfer money from one NationHela card to another using the internet.
How it Works
Log in here and enter your user login and password to access the customer self-care portal. Use the online password sent to you when you successfully activate your NationHela card.
Select the wallet to wallet transfer option and enter the recipient’s NationHela Account (Mobile)number and amount to be transferred.
Both cardholders will receive SMS confirmations that funds have been sent and received.
(iii) NationHela to your M-PESA account
You can transfer money from your NationHela account to your M-PESA account.
How it Works
Dial *348# to access your mobile banking menu.
Select the SEND MONEY option and choose Transfer to Mobile Money Account (e.g. M-PESA).
Enter the amount to be transferred.
You will receive confirmation that the funds have been sent to the M-PESA account.
To access your account from wherever you are, you can log onto here you can access the same information via mobile by simply dialling *348# on your mobile phone.
The customer self care portal allows you to perform the following services:
Activate your card for use in online transactions- you will need to activate your card on the customer self-care portal to enable online payments for goods and services.
View current and previous statements.
View account balance.
Block or unblock your account.
Change your online login password via the internet.
